Does a dual NVMe card, specifically the AOC-SLG3-2M2 work in a X11SSL-F with TWO NVMes?
Let’s find out.
Googling shows you yes it’s possible just follow this: https://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=26858
From there:
Here’s the steps if you want to use AOC-SLG3-2M2 in X11SSL-F by BIOS auto-adjustment:
1. Update BIOS to 2.0c(X11SSLF7.A06) or newer version.
2. Use AOC-SLG3-2M2 in PCIe slot7 only.
3. Set JI2C1 and JI2C2 to 1-2(Enable)
4. Set Slot7 bifurcation to “Auto” in BIOS
5. Save and reboot the motherboard, then check if you can have both of M.2 devices in OS.
If you cannot find two of M.2 devices in OS BIOS auto-adjustment, you can change the setting as below for manual setting.(Keep the BIOS version as 2.0c or newer and use AOC-SLG3-2M2 in slot7)
1. Set JI2C1 and JI2C2 to 2-3(disable)
2. Set Slot7 bifurcation to “x4x4” in BIOS
3. Save and reboot the motherboard, then check if you can have both of M.2 devices in OS.
Step 4. Set Slot7 bifurcation to “Auto” in BIOS. But where???
Let’s hunt it down:
Advanced => Chipset => System Agent (???) => PEG Port ???
Well there it is, at first my motherboard was set to JI2C1 and JI2C1 1-2 and BIOS to auto. This didn’t work.
So I had to follow steps 1 to 3 changing them from 1-2 to 2-3 and setting the BIOS to 4×4.
